Meet the Board

  • President: Joshua Chodosh, MD, MSHS

    Dr. Chodosh is the inaugural endowed Michael L. Freedman Professor of Geriatric Research, Professor of Medicine and Population Health at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, and Director of the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Care at NYU. While at UCLA, Dr. Chodosh built a research career in dementia health services and developed a nationally recognized VA telehealth program in dementia care. In 2015, Dr. Chodosh joined NYU and launched the Freedman Research Center on Aging, Technology and Cognitive Health. He is a Core leader in NYU’s National Institute on Aging’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and Co-Leader of the CDC BOLD Public Health Center of Excellence on Early Detection of Dementia. Dr. Chodosh also co-founded the NYU Aging Incubator, a growing University-wide educational and research collective serving the larger University community.

  • Vice President: Shari Barkin, MD, MSHS

    Dr. Barkin is the William K. Warren Foundation Chair and Professor of Pediatrics, Director of Pediatric Obesity Research in the Diabetes Center, and Chief of General Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She received her M.D. from the University of Cincinnati, completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, and a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars fellowship in Health Services Research at UCLA.

  • Treasurer: Michael Knight, MD, MSHP

    Dr. Knight is board certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine, and practices clinically in the GW Weight Management Clinic and General Internal Medicine Practice. His clinical interests include chronic disease management, minority health, sexual health, and obesity. Dr. Knight is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and has been an invited speaker on obesity and its effect on health and wellbeing on radio, in news media, and at various medical and community events internationally and throughout the United States. Dr. Knight has received numerous awards for his professional and clinical practice, including the Top 40 Under 40 Leaders in Health Award by the National Minority Quality Forum, and the Top Healthcare Professionals Under 40 Award by the National Medical Association.

  • Board Member At-Large: Jonathan D. Klein, MD, MPH

    Dr. Klein is the Savithri and Samuel Raj Professor of Pediatrics, Executive Vice Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Associate Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He received his M.D. from New Jersey Medical School and an MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health, and completed his pediatric residency at Tufts New England Medical Center and a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars fellowship in Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

  • Board Member At-Large: Jade Burns, Ph.D., R.N., CPNP-PC

    Dr. Burns’ health services research focuses on innovative approaches using community-engaged research and technology (e.g., social media, mobile apps, messaging) to increase access to sexual health services for adolescents and young adults at community health centers. Dr. Burns’ area of expertise in clinical practice as a pediatric nurse practitioner is adolescent healthcare, family planning, health promotion, and HIV/STI prevention. Her secondary area of interest is improving nursing practice and training programs in underserved areas. Additionally, she serves on IHPI's Early Career Faculty Advisory Council (FAC).

  • Committee Member: George Dalembert, MD, MSHP

    Dr. Dalembert is an attending physician in the Division of General Pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a Faculty Scholar at the CHOP PolicyLab and a Senior Fellow of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics. He serves as an Associate Program Director for the CHOP Pediatrics Residency Program.

  • Co-Chair: Anna Morgan, MD, MSc, MSHP

    Anna U. Morgan, MD, MSc, MSHP is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, the Medical Director of COVID Watch, and the Director of Care Management and Community Health for the Division of General Internal Medicine. Her work focuses on caring for complex and vulnerable patients in primary care, population health, and the development and implementation of automated SMS remote monitoring programs. Dr. Morgan has published in journals such as Health Affairs, NJEM Catalyst, American Journal of Public Health, and the Journal of General Internal Medicine. She is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine and holds an MSc in Health, Population and Society from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Master of Science in Health Policy Research from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles and was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania.
